Are the holes for the faucets pre-drilled on my unit?

No, since there are many different types and models of faucets available on the market today, we do not want to limit you to one specific type. Therefore, we do not pre-drill the faucet holes.

Can small scratches be removed from my unit? If so, how?

MAAX sells a product called Lumacream (10003909) that you can obtain through your authorized dealer.

Should I install my new unit over a mortar bed?

All our units are designed in such a way that they do not require a mortar bed; however, we do recommend the use of mortar for floor levelling.

What size breaker should I use to wire my new whirlpool/airpool unit?

As building codes vary from state to state and province to province, we recommend that you follow your local building code. Locate the unit’s amps and voltage information on the pump/blower, and give the figures to your electrician. The electrician will know what size breaker should be used to comply with code.

What are the wooden blocks under the lip of my unit?

Those wooden blocks are required to install optional aprons on certain models. However, if you are not using an apron and the wooden blocks are hindering your installation, they can simply be broken off.

Is it really a good idea to plan for an access panel to service my new unit?

It is always better to plan ahead.  If access is not considered during installation, you could run into problems in the future. Some people like to wait until something happens, and break a few tiles to gain access. However, after a number of years, finding matching tiles is not always an easy task. Also, keep in mind that MAAX requires access to service your unit, and any work done to build an access panel is not covered by warranty.

How does my water heater work?

The water heater is equipped with a pressure interrupter, and requires water circulation of at least 10 gallons per minute to function. Therefore, the water heater only works when the whirlpool system is running. The thermostat is pre-set, and cannot be adjusted. Water temperature will not exceed 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius).

Can I connect all my pumps/motors on the same electrical line?

No, you will need a separate GFCI breaker and line for each motor/pump and heater.

Do I need to support the ledge of my new unit?

Yes, it is always recommended to support the ledge; however, the weight of your unit should be supported by the floor rather than the ledge. Ledge support is needed to prevent your unit from cracking should you sit or stand on it.

I own a combination whirlpool/airpool unit. Why does the pump skip when I use both systems at the same time?

When using both systems at the same time it may feel as if the pump is skipping. This is because your air system is injecting air into your water and your whirlpool suction is drawing in the water from your tub along with the injected air to the pump. This leaves an air bubble in the pump, causing it to skip. This is quite natural and will not damage your pump

Why does my GFCI breaker keep tripping when I turn on my system?

To identify the problem, first disconnect the tub from the GFCI breaker, then connect a hairdryer to the same GFCI breaker. If the breaker still trips, your problem is in the wiring from the bathroom to the breaker. If it doesn’t trip, connect the unit to a regular breaker. If the regular breaker holds, your GFCI is too sensitive. We recommend you ask your electrician to replace it. If it trips, contact MAAX.

Can I use therapeutic products in my MAAX Collection bath unit?

Certain types of therapeutic products when added to bath water, or if applied non-diluted directly in the bath, may damage the unit finish. Test the product on a small inconspicuous surface prior to use.
